OSHA is responsible for monitoring the workplace safety of job sites and offices across the country. Its training programs are designed to keep workers safe under the most hazardous work conditions, and, depending on your job, you may be asked to be a part of an OSHA Outreach Program and take training courses to maintain your eligibility to work.

This program is designed to give workers access to information about workers’ rights and how any employee can file a complaint if an employer is in violation of OSHA standards. You will also learn about safe working conditions, how to avoid injury, and how to prevent workplace illness. This intense training program is available in a 30-hour or 10-hour course. The 30-hour course is designed for supervisors, while the 10-hour course is for entry-level employees.

It is important to know that this program is not mandatory under OSHA regulations, but your local or state government may require that you participate in this training. You won’t receive credit towards any OSHA-mandated training when you take these courses, but they will give you plenty of valuable information. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certification card that you may present to your employer as proof that you participated in the training.

OSHA outreach training courses are available in several fields, which include construction, disaster site work, maritime, and general industry. If you work in any of these fields, you should be sure to check with your supervisor to find out if this type of training is required for you.
